HAMBURGERS IN SAUCE

INGREDIENTS:

(Makes 8)

8 frozen hamburgers or 8 homemade (I do both but for homemade, use 3 lbs. hamburger, season with salt and pepper, shape into 8 large burgers.  Place on a large sheet pan lined with waxed paper and sprayed with PAM.

Place burgers in freezer and freeze.  Once frozen, you can store them in a gallon bag with wax paper between each burger).  It’s best to use frozen burgers.  Thawed ones will fall apart.

1 jar spaghetti sauce (I like Ragu or Delgrosso)

½ cup brown sugar

2 large onions sliced thin

Brioche buns (they hold up well and do not get soggy!)

DIRECTIONS:

Pour the sauce in a large bowl.

Add the brown sugar.  Taste.  Should taste sweet.

Add some to bottom of glass baking pan.

Put the burgers on top of the sauce.

Spread the sliced onions all over top.

Add to a brioche bun, spread yellow mustard on.  Put a burger in a dish with some onions on top, place a slice of american cheese on top and stick in microwave 15 seconds. Place on the brioche bun and enjoy!
